The Wharf Restaurant and Bar, Teddington TW11
Launches New Menu on 8 February 2012

TEDDINGTON: FEBRUARY 2011
Chef and proprietor Ray Neve has created a new menu for 2012 in celebration of 10 years at The Wharf this November. Ray has talked and listened to his loyal customers, explored current trends in popular dining and introduced some classic favourites and great grills alongside regional influences. With a more relaxed, unpretentious and uncomplicated approach, the food features nibbles, bar snacks and sharing plates for those who want to pop in for a chat and enjoy the friendly ambience and river views.

Ray says "I want my customers to experience good food at affordable prices, not just for special occasions, and to see us as their favourite choice of neighbourhood restaurant and meeting place. From families joining us for lunch, to business people calling in for a quick bite, or those just wanting to catch up for an early evening glass of wine and snack at the bar, we have tailored our new menu to suit. But, The Wharf's renowned individual attention from our friendly team remains as always".

Bite size Caesar salad and Merguez sausage with mustard dip are enjoyed at the bar or while lounging in cosy leather club chairs. Choose from The Wharf catch of the day from Billingsgate, roast Highland Venison, lobster and chips or fish pie, great steaks and sumptuous hamburgers. Follow your main with apple and pear crumble with custard or warm bread and butter pudding. Don't be fooled by the familiarity of the mains and sides, the fresh ingredients are simple, freshly prepared, flavourful and top quality. Cooked to perfection and served with style. Our Hereford beef, from Russell Hume, is dry aged for 35 days and we have introduced more unusual cuts such as bavette and flatiron.

Ray is also excited to announce the appointment of Darren Ingram as Head Chef. Ray and Darren have known each other and worked together for over 18 years.

The Wharf is opposite Teddington Lock, set back from Manor Road. It was originally a boathouse, but now diners overlook the river from the bright, airy and warm conservatory at this idyllic location. Considered as a convenient neighbourhood local with friendly ambience for a lunch with the girls, a business meeting to suit busy schedules, romantic dinner or leisurely Sunday family lunch, the delicious food is served by attentive staff in comfortable yet contemporary surroundings.

Prix Fixe Daily River Menu: 2 courses from £14, 3 courses from £16 available lunch and dinner Monday to Friday.

Nibbles and starters from £3.50, Grills and Wharf Specialities from £12, Desserts £6.00.

Children's Menu is available.

The restaurant re opened on 20 January 2012 following the installation of a new kitchen. The new menu is available from 8 February 2012.

The first of these exhibitions opens in July and will feature the stunning photography of Kos Evans. Kos is one of the world's top marine photographers and this exhibition will showcase some of her most dramatic and breathtaking photographs, spanning more than 29 years as an award-winning marine sports photographer specialising in international yacht racing.

An acknowledged pioneer in her field, Kos, is renowned for her extraordinary trademark masthead shots, taken some 200ft from the deck and often involving placing herself in real danger - dangling upside down from the mast wielding a 35mm camera, or out of the side of a helicopter photographing powerboats 20 feet off the water at 100knots.

"The Wharf is proud to work with Kos Evans on this exhibition of her work which we believe will appeal to sailing enthusiasts and landlubbers alike.

The Wharf's contemporary space forms the ideal backdrop for Kos' stunning graphic shots and vibrant colour and I am delighted to exhibit her incredible work.

From the excitement of powerboat racing, the beauty of classic yachts to her use of innovative angles and abstract details, I believe Kos' work perfectly exemplifies the power of imagery to educate, inform and entertain." (Ray Neve)

TEDDINGTON: APRIL 2010
Iconic images of Hollywood stars from the early days of the silver screen through to present-day box office heavyweights will be displayed in a local exhibition to celebrate Hollywood's 100th anniversary. Sponsored by Getty Images Gallery in conjunction with Canon, and opening on Wednesday 26th of May at The Wharf Restaurant in Teddington, 'Hollywood through the lens – celebrating 100 years of Hollywood' will take visitors on a journey from the 1920s, showing the evolution of Hollywood portraits through the golden age of cinema through to modern icons.

The images featured in the exhibition have been specially selected from Getty Images' world renowned archives by the Getty Images Gallery in conjunction with Canon and The Wharf Restaurant, to represent both the influential individuals and photographic styles which shaped the decades. In addition to highlighting the changing fashions and faces of Hollywood, the images also offer a unique insight into the changing technology, techniques and styles of portrait photography enabled by the early cameras to the high resolution professional digital SLRs of today.

"The early days of Hollywood showcase the passion and creativity of the photographers of the age, using available technology and processes to capture a split-second magical image which tell a rich story of the subject, the era and even the cinematic style of the day," commented Getty Images Gallery Director Louise Garczewska. "Every image featured in the exhibit allows us to appreciate the skills of the photographers behind the lens, and share their vision of Hollywood captured at that moment."

"At Canon we are passionate about empowering people to take stories with our equipment," said Yuji Shimodate, Director Photo Products Management & Professional Imaging, Canon Europe. "Hollywood is a shining example of story-telling at its greatest and the images which make up this exhibition offer an insight into the more intimate stories behind the icons who made Hollywood great."
